• Question: What is the universe made of?

      Stuff – atoms, particles, molecules. But there’s a problem that only makes up a very small percentage – scientists don’t actually know what most of the universe is made of. Physicists can tell there must be more stuff out there, because of the way the universe is moving, but we can’t see what it is. Physicists call this unknown part dark energy and dark matter, and it means there’s maybe 96% of the universe that we’re not sure about.

      Mostly dark matter and dark energy – but we have no idea what they are!
      Other than that, the universe is mostly hydrogen and helium.
