For almost 10 years! I took the long route: I did a bachelor in St Andrews (and bachelor’s in Scotland take 4 years instead of 3). I then got a scholarship to do a 2-year masters abroad in 3 different countries (Austria, Italy, and Serbia). Now I’m doing a PhD which takes another 3-4 years.
I have friends who have done it much quicker though, it’s possible to do an integrated masters so they got a bachelor + masters in 4 years (whereas it took me 6). But I love living in other countries so I don’t mind that it’s taken me a lot longer (also less pressure to worry about getting a real job!)
