So I personally found being in the lab quite repetitive – I didn’t like being in a lab with no windows and doing similar experiments with the same people every day.

I wanted to be out in the world talking to different people and learning completely new things about science all the time, so science communication was more aligned with my personality.

However now I know that lots of scientists get to do public engagement (so telling people about their science through events) as part of their work – so you can do both that way!
