So I’d say for me that it is my outlet – it’s my chance in the week to really forget about my work and just escape enjoying myself. In that sense, it helps with my mental health and therefore improves my performance when I am at work.

I also think dancing alongside your studies gives you discipline and time management skills – because if you know you have to go to dance class, you always make sure your work is done in time so that you can go to dance!! I never miss a dance class (unless I’m sick) – because it’s so important to value your hobbies around your studies as they bring so much to your life.

At uni I was the secretary of the dance society, and the skills I learnt in that role (communications, time management, data management, event management) are all relevant to my role as a science communicator today.
